Baseball Recap: St. Dominic Comes Up Short

St. Dominic was the 9-2 winner over Mountain Valley when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Saints fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 2-1 on Monday. The game marked the Saints' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

St. Dominic saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nolan Cavers, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Finley Cavers was another, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

St. Dominic dropped their record down to 2-3 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 2.5 runs. As for Mountain Valley, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Dominic will head out to face off against Mount Abram at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mountain Valley, they will venture away from home to take on Poland at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
