Basketball Recap: Matios Russ' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Christel House over Eastern Hancock

Christel House fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Eastern Hancock on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 63-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eastern Hancock Royals. The Eagles just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Christel House lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Matios Russ, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine boards. Russ is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Terrance Meredith, who posted nine points along with six steals and five assists.

Eastern Hancock was led to victory by Kayden Ruble and Caden Powers. Ruble dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds, while Powers went 5 of 12 to rack up 17 points. Ruble has become a key player for Eastern Hancock: the team is 9-3 when he posts at least eight boards, but 0-3 otherwise.

Christel House's loss dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Eastern Hancock, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-6.
