Softball Game Preview: Cascade Cougars vs. Monticello Panthers

Cascade has gone 7-2 against Monticello recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Cougars will look to defend their home field against the Panthers at 5:00 p.m. Cascade's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Monticello's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Cascade is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Wapsie Valley just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 8-5 to the Warriors.

Meanwhile, Monticello was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost an 11-9 heartbreaker at the hands of West Branch. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Panthers have suffered since June 27, 2024.

Cascade's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Monticello, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.

Everything went Cascade's way against Monticello when the teams last played back in June of 2024, as Cascade made off with a 6-0 win. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
