Basketball Recap: Avery County Wins Going Away Against West Wilkes + How To Watch

Avery County's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They walked away with a 59-50 win over the West Wilkes Blackhawks. That nine point margin sets a new team best for the Vikings this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Avery County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Hank Johnson, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten rebounds. The game was Johnson's fourth in a row with at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Blaine Kirkpatrick, who shot 70% from the field to rack up 15 points along with five boards and three blocks.

Avery County's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for West Wilkes, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Coming up, Avery County will welcome Ashe County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for West Wilkes, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on South Caldwell at 8:00 p.m. on December 2.
