Basketball Game Preview: Brownwood Lions vs. Glen Rose Tigers

Brownwood hasn't had much luck against Glen Rose recently, but that could start to change on Friday. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Brownwood Lions take on the Glen Rose Tigers at 5:45 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Brownwood took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They breezed by Mineral Wells to the tune of 57-25.

Meanwhile, Glen Rose came tearing into Tuesday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victor by a 57-35 margin over the Steers. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 17th, while the Steers are ranked 603rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Glen Rose pushed their record up to 28-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.3 points per game. As for Brownwood, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-9 record this season.

Brownwood suffered a grim 48-23 defeat to Glen Rose in their previous meeting on January 7th. Can Brownwood avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
