Football Recap: Valley Vikings vs. Hagerman Pirates

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Valley can now relate to. They took a 56-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hagerman Pirates. The Vikings' loss signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

It was another big night for Wyatt Mavencamp, who rushed for 175 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries, and also threw for 267 yards and four touchdowns while completing 72.2% of his passes for Hagerman. Mavencamp really tore up the turf during one magnificent 71-yard run. Kylan Kendall did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 134 receiving yards.

Valley's defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-2. As for Hagerman, they pushed their record up to 10-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hagerman, they will square off against Butte County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hagerman knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Butte County likes a good challenge.
