Basketball Recap: North Park Takes a Loss

North Park was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 14th straight defeat. They took a 55-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vail Christian Saints. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Saints apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Despite the defeat, North Park saw an underclassman step up: freshman Paige Solano posted eight points along with ten boards and five steals. The dominant performance also gave Solano a new career-high in field goal percentage (80%). Brooklynn Weber was another key player, putting up 14 points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, North Park was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Vail Christian was led to victory by Susie Irving and Noelle Razee. Irving earned 22 points, while Razee scored 16 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Irving has scored at least a third of Vail Christian's points.

North Park's loss dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Vail Christian, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-9.

North Park has already played their next matchup, a 43-28 defeat against Saratoga on the 20th. As for Vail Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 57-12 loss against De Beque on the 20th.
