Preview: Charlotte Elite Academy Soldiers vs. Central Carolina Prep Defenders
The Charlotte Elite Academy Soldiers's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Central Carolina Prep Defenders at 7:30 p.m. on January 15th. Charlotte Elite Academy will be strutting in after a victory while Central Carolina Prep will be coming in after a defeat.
Even though Elevation Prep Academy scored an imposing 71 points on Thursday, Charlotte Elite Academy still came out on top. Charlotte Elite Academy secured a 75-71 W over Elevation Prep Academy. Given Charlotte Elite Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 107th, while Elevation Prep Academy is ranked 325th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Charlotte Elite Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jordan King, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. King also posted eight assists for the first time this season. Antoine Boone was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Central Carolina Prep suffered their biggest defeat since November 10, 2023 last Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 76-51 walloping at the hands of Elevation Prep Academy. Central Carolina Prep was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-20.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from CJ Miller, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of TJ Miller, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Charlotte Elite Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for Central Carolina Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-10.
Monday's contest is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Charlotte Elite Academy have been dynamite from deep this season, having drained 45.2% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Central Carolina Prep struggles in that department as they've nailed 43.5% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything came up roses for Charlotte Elite Academy against Central Carolina Prep in their previous matchup back in February of 2022 as the team secured a 63-26 victory.
