There's no place like home for First Presbyterian Day, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They came out on top against the Pinewood Christian Patriots by a score of 21-10 on Friday. The 21-point effort marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring match of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

First Presbyterian Day's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Major Simmons, who rushed for 73 yards and one TD, and also threw for 127 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The Vikings' leading receiver Breck Griffin was Simmons' top target yet again, picking up 97 receiving yards and one score.

First Presbyterian Day's run defense was locked in: Pinewood Christian could only muster 3.4 yards per carry. While two picked up at least six total tackles, Simmons stood above the rest. He rushed for 73 yards and one TD, and also threw for 127 yards and a pair of touchdowns. First Presbyterian Day's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 4.7.

Despite the loss, Pinewood Christian saw an underclassman step up: freshman Sam Wasson rushed for 113 yards, and also threw for 122 yards and one touchdown.

First Presbyterian Day's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Pinewood Christian, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Looking ahead, First Presbyterian Day will venture away from home to challenge Westfield School at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Vikings 13.8, the Hornets 13.2) so any points scored will be well earned. As for Pinewood Christian, they will host Edmund Burke Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans' defense has only allowed 3.8 points per game this season, so the Patriots' offense will have their work cut out for them.
