Baseball Recap: Palo Verde Valley Victorious

With a playoff win on the line, Palo Verde Valley rose to the challenge on Saturday. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Central Spartans. That's the fourth time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 8-7 victory on Wednesday.

Dominic Rios was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs. He has become a key player for Palo Verde Valley: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 12-13-1 otherwise. Demetrius Johnson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Palo Verde Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March.

Palo Verde Valley's win bumped their record up to 16-13-1. As for Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-18.

Coming up, Palo Verde Valley will head out on the road to square off against Ramona at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something the Yellow Jackets surely won't give up without a fight. Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
