Softball Recap: Dakota Comes Up Short

Dakota extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 20-11 in the process. They came up short against the Saline Hornets, falling 11-1. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hornets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2023.

Kiley Phelan made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and one double.

As for Saline, their victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-3-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 games by seven runs or more this season.

On Saline's side, Ashley Malinczak was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Emma Wiedmayer, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dakota will face off against Anchor Bay at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Saline, they will venture away from home to take on Hanover-Horton at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
