Softball Game Preview: Ben Lomond Scots vs. South Summit Wildcats

Ben Lomond is 0-6 against South Summit since April of 2022 but things could change on Friday. Ben Lomond will be playing at home against South Summit at 3:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Ben Lomond is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game dating back to last season on Wednesday. They lost 18-9 to Ogden.

Ben Lomond got a big performance out of Brooklyn Richey, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Richey a new career-high in hits (two). Another player making a difference was Payton Huff, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when South Summit challenged Union on Tuesday. South Summit came up short against Union, falling 11-2. The game marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

South Summit saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brinley Stapleton, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for South Summit and nudges their season record down to 9-8. As for Ben Lomond, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Ben Lomond's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's matchup. Ben Lomond has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 14.3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for South Summit, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Ben Lomond continue to outrun the ball?
