Softball Recap: Beaverton Beats Newberg for Their Sixth Straight Win

Beaverton had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Monday. They walked away with a 15-11 victory over the Newberg Tigers. While the Beavers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Addison Riedel made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Riedel was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and one double. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Beaverton got a big performance out of Allium Berg, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI. Those four RBI gave Berg a new career-high. Amy Rusin was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.

Beaverton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 14 hits in three consecutive contests.

Beaverton pushed their record up to 8-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Newberg, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Beaverton will take on Clackamas at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Newberg, they will face off against South Salem at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers are facing the Saxons at the right time seeing as the Saxons are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
