Baseball Recap: Elk Grove Gets the Win

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Elk Grove and Pleasant Grove had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. Elk Grove walked away with a 4-1 win over Pleasant Grove on Wednesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 9-7 last Monday.

Anthony Bascherini tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, Elk Grove's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brent Martin, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Elk Grove's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Pleasant Grove, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

Elk Grove will have a chance to go back-to-back against Pleasant Grove: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
