Recap: Montrose Red Hawks vs. Erie Tigers
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Montrose Red Hawks, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 25-22. Montrose's defeat signaled the end of their nine-game winning streak.
Blake Barnett was his usual excellent self, throwing for 183 yards and two touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground for Erie. Erie also got a significant boost from Gavin Lusk, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 98 yards.
Montrose's defeat dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Erie, they pushed their record up to 12-1 with that victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.
Montrose does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Erie will face off against Palmer Ridge at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The pair have allowed few points on average, (Palmer Ridge: 8.8, Erie: 13.2) so any points scored will be well earned.
