Basketball Game Preview: DeMatha Stags vs. Springdale Prep Lions

Two dominant guards in Ashton (Ace) Meeks and Kisean Robinson are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The DeMatha Stags will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Springdale Prep Lions at 7:30 p.m. DeMatha is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 64.9 points per game this season.

DeMatha's upcoming match probably won't be as stressful as their last, when they took on another nationally ranked opponent: Paul VI, who was ranked 14th at the time (DeMatha was ranked 21st). DeMatha fell 61-48 to Paul VI on Tuesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Stags in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now lost six in a row.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Charles Thomas, who went 6 of 11 en route to 15 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. That's the most steals he has posted since back in January of 2024. Jamaal McKnight Jr. was another key player, going 5 for 11 on his way to 13 points.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Springdale Prep's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 61-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Clinton Grace Christian.

DeMatha's loss dropped their record down to 13-4. As for Springdale Prep, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 20-5.
