Softball Game Preview: Heritage Huskies vs. Rolesville Rams

The Heritage Huskies will venture away from home to challenge the Rolesville Rams at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Heritage played against Knightdale on Tuesday and won via forfeit.

Rolesville took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out East Wake Academy 6-5. The win continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won five in a row.

Kaitlyn Curphey was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Curphey wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Eliza Leicht, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Another was Sadie Smith, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

Heritage's record now sits at 10-8. As for Rolesville, their record is now 5-15.

Everything went Heritage's way against Rolesville in their previous matchup on April 8th, as Heritage made off with an 11-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Huskies since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
