Basketball Recap: West Branch Warriors vs. Philipsburg-Osceola Mountaineers
West Branch had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a 78-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Philipsburg-Osceola Mountaineers on Monday. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mountaineers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2024.
West Branch's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dylan McGonigal, who went 10-for-19 on his way to 28 points and eight boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Easton Emigh, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and 13 rebounds.
Philipsburg-Osceola has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. West Branch will square off against Moshannon Valley at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Philipsburg-Osceola, they will challenge Clearfield at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
