Softball Game Preview: Skyview Falcons vs. Billings Senior Broncs

Skyview hasn't had much luck against Billings Senior recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Falcons will venture away from home to challenge the Broncs at 3:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Skyview sitting on three straight wins and Billings Senior on seven.

Skyview is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Montana's top teams: Billings West, who was ranked third at the time (Skyview was ranked 14th). The Falcons were the clear victors by a 17-7 margin over the Golden Bears on Tuesday. The Falcons' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Skyview got a massive performance out of Lexi Johnston, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most hits Johnston has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Gallardo, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs.

Johnston wasn't the only one making solid contact: Skyview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive games.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Billings Senior and Belgrade meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Broncs were the clear victors by an 18-4 margin over the Panthers. The result was nothing new for the Broncs, who have now won eight matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Billings Senior pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Skyview, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Skyview suffered a grim 17-2 defeat to Billings Senior when the teams last played back in March. Can the Falcons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
