Basketball Recap: Murrieta Mesa Comes Up Short

Murrieta Mesa was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 48-41 to the Chaparral Pumas. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rams this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 56-54 back in January.

Leading Chaparral to victory were Kaleb Austin and Brandon Martin. Austin went 5 for 10 en route to 14 points, while Martin went 8 of 13 on his way to 16 points. Martin's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Jack Wilson was another key player, putting up six points and seven boards.

Murrieta Mesa's defeat dropped their record down to 8-16. As for Chaparral, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 12-11.

Murrieta Mesa has already played their next matchup, a 50-39 loss against Murrieta Valley on the 29th. As for Chaparral, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 104-85 defeat against Temecula Valley on the 29th.
