Basketball Game Preview: Franklinton Red Rams vs. Northern Durham Knights

The Franklinton Red Rams and the Northern Durham Knights will round out the year against one another at at 12:30 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Franklinton saw some tournament action on Friday. They had to suffer through a 68-20 loss at the hands of Northwood. The matchup marked the Red Rams' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Kirby Ransom put forth a good effort for the losing side as he posted eight points.

Meanwhile, Northern Durham was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were beaten by Willow Spring 84-48. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 361st, while the Storm are ranked 161st).

This is the second loss in a row for Franklinton and nudges their season record down to 6-5. As for Northern Durham, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.

Franklinton came up short against Northern Durham when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 68-56. Can Franklinton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
