Softball Recap: Stansbury Extends Home Winning Streak to Seven

Stansbury entered their tilt with Murray on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Spartans by a score of 9-5. This was a revenge game for the Stallions: when they faced off against the Spartans last Wednesday, they had to take a 8-5 defeat.

Bryn Leigh Jones spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tessa Baker, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Merritt, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Stansbury's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-7. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.1 runs over those games. As for Murray, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stansbury will welcome Sky View at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Murray, they will face off against Cottonwood at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
