Volleyball Preview: Windham Bombers vs. Rootstown Rovers

Windham has been away from home for two games now, but on Saturday they'll finally make their return. They will host the Rootstown Rovers at 10:00 a.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Thursday, Windham came up short against Mathews and fell 3-1.

The final score came out to 25-13, 25-15, 23-25, 25-20.

Meanwhile, Rootstown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 3-1 to Mogadore.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 20-25, 25-20, 25-17.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Allison Strickland, who had nine digs, eight kills, and two aces. She is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had six or more in the last five games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophi Smith, who had 14 kills, six digs, and two aces.

Even though they lost, Rootstown kept the net locked down and finished the game with 20 blocks. That's the most blocks they've managed all season.

Windham's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-5. As for Rootstown, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

Windham came up short against Rootstown when the teams last played back in September of 2023, falling 2-0. Can Windham avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
