Fort Wayne Bishop Luers' pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Fort Wayne North Side as they made off with a 19-0 win. Considering the Knights have won nine contests by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Ben Kiracofe, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was his first of the season. Kam Walters was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one triple.
Fort Wayne Bishop Luers was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .583. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.
Bluffton couldn't beat West Noble on Tuesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fifth inning. The Tigers fell just short of the Chargers by a score of 7-6. That's two games in a row now that the Tigers have lost by just one run.
Colton Arnold was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Arnold wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Griffin Morgan, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Fort Wayne Bishop Luers is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Bluffton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-9.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Fort Wayne Bishop Luers has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Bluffton struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
