Softball Recap: Robinson Takes Down Gateway College Preparatory in a Playoff Battle

Robinson had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They had just enough and edged out the Gateway College Preparatory Gators 3-2 on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Rockets sure are getting used to it with their 20th in a row.

Raelynn Van Zee made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in February.

Van Zee wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Richards, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

Robinson's victory bumped their record up to 27-2. As for Gateway College Preparatory, their loss dropped their record down to 20-3-2.

Robinson will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Gators: the pair will be back at it again later today.
