Baseball Game Preview: Hanford West Huskies vs. Chowchilla Tribe

The Hanford West Huskies will venture away from home to face off against the Chowchilla Tribe at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Hanford West is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They came out on top against Nipomo by a score of 8-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Huskies.

Alex Orozco spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Hanford West is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 8-14 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kailin Hwang, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Ben Ritchie, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Chowchilla entered their tilt with Taft on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Wildcats. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tribe have posted since April 15th.

Tristan Beardsley was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.

Chowchilla pushed their record up to 15-13 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Hanford West, their record is now 12-14.
