Basketball Recap: Stratford Comes Up Short

Stratford was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 63-34 loss at the hands of the Overton Bobcats. The game marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Despite the loss, Stratford had strong showings from Joseph Campbell, who posted ten points, and Anthony Merrill, who had eight points.

Overton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tahj McLemore out in front who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jehmel Madison, who earned 12 points along with six assists and five boards.

Stratford's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Overton, they moved to 5-5 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Stratford didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 50-33 win against McGavock on the 16th. Overton will take on Stem Preparatory Academy in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on December 20th. Overton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.7 points per game this season.
