Football Recap: Carlos Spencer and Brayden Pross Secure Win for Loyola Blakefield

Loyola Blakefield won the last time they faced Gilman and things went their way on Saturday too. The Dons took down the Greyhounds 38-21. With that victory, the Dons brought their scoring average up to 27.5 points per game.

A big part of Loyola Blakefield's win came down to the chemistry between Carlos Spencer and his top target Brayden Pross. Spencer threw for 398 yards and three TDs while Pross picked up 265 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Spencer's passing game has become a key predictor of Loyola Blakefield's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. Brady Murn made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Loyola Blakefield didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Murn picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The victory made it two in a row for Loyola Blakefield and bumps their season record up to 4-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.5 points over those games. As for Gilman, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.
