Softball Preview: Basile Bearcats vs. Singer Hornets

After two games on the road, Basile is heading back home. They will take on the Singer Hornets at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

After some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three matches, Basile finally came back down to earth on Thursday. They wound up on the wrong side of a tough 16-1 walloping at the hands of Oberlin. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Basile in their matchups with Oberlin: they've now lost four in a row.

Meanwhile, Singer made easy work of South Cameron on Friday and carried off an 18-2 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for Singer.

Izabella Arguello made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits (she also only allowed one walk). Arguello was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Jada Eaves was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Hayley Johnson, who scored four runs while going 4-for-4.

Basile's loss dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Singer, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-8.
