Softball Game Preview: Hitchcock Bulldogs vs. East Bernard Brahmas

Hitchcock is 0-10 against East Bernard since April of 2018 but things could change on Tuesday. Hitchcock will be playing in front of their home fans against East Bernard at 5:00 p.m.

Hitchcock came up short against Van Vleck on Friday, falling 12-1. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Hitchcock saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Graciella Vanness, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-1. Those two stolen bases gave Vanness a new career-high.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask East Bernard). They were the clear victors by a 17-1 margin over Hempstead on Friday. The victory was familiar territory for the Brahmas, who have now won three contests in a row.

Rylie Holder made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three doubles and three RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Samantha Fryer, who went 2-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Avery Kolb, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.

Hitchcock's loss dropped their record down to 10-4. As for East Bernard, their win bumped their record up to 11-7.
