Baseball Game Preview: Huguenot Falcons vs. James River Midlothian Rapids

Huguenot hasn't had much luck against James River Midlothian recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Falcons are taking a road trip to challenge the Rapids at 6:00 p.m. Huguenot has given up an average of 11.9 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Huguenot fell victim to Manchester and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 25-0 to the Lancers.

Meanwhile, James River Midlothian entered their match against Monacan on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Rapids fell just short of the Chiefs by a score of 3-2. The game marked the Rapids' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

James River Midlothian saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayden Grant, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Grant is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Jake Schumacher also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

The loss was their first at home , dropping their record down to 8-3. As for Huguenot, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Huguenot has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 9.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like James River Midlothian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Huguenot might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from James River Midlothian in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Falcons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
