Baseball Recap: Platte Valley Finds Playoff Glory Versus Bishop Machebeuf

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Platte Valley walked away with it. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Bishop Machebeuf Buffaloes on Saturday. This was payback for the Broncos, who suffered an 8-4 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Hudson Flummerfelt was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jackson Gentry, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Platte Valley hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive contests.

Platte Valley has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Bishop Machebeuf, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-10.

Coming up, Platte Valley will face off against Limon at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Badgers will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Broncos surely won't give up without a fight. Bishop Machebeuf does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
