Football Recap: Perry Takes a Loss + How To Watch

After flying high against Wayne County two weeks ago, Perry came back down to earth. The Panthers fell 21-14 to the Ware County Gators on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 85th, while the Gators are ranked 23rd).

When it comes to explaining why Perry lost, don't look at Decorrion Daniels. Despite the final result, he rushed for 111 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Daniels has become a key player for the Panthers: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 2-3 otherwise.

A big part of Ware County's win came down to the chemistry between Isaiah White and his top target Jamario Rice. White threw for 218 yards and two TDs while completing 78.3% of his passes while Rice picked up 136 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Those 218 passing yards gave White a new career-high.

Perry's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-4. As for Ware County, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-1.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Perry will challenge rival Benedictine at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Daniels and Stanley Smart Jr.. Meanwhile, Ware County is set to take on their familiar foe Warner Robins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
