Basketball Game Preview: Carlisle Indians vs. Oakwood Lumberjacks

The Carlisle Indians will venture away from home to face off against the Oakwood Lumberjacks at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.

Last Friday, Carlisle was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 53-49 to Edgewood. The Indians were up 26-9 in the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Meanwhile, Oakwood waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came out on top against the Blue Lions by a score of 55-44. Given the Lumberjacks' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 112th, while the Blue Lions are ranked 315th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Oakwood's victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.5 points per game. As for Carlisle, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

Carlisle came up short against Oakwood in their previous matchup on December 10th, falling 62-57. Can Carlisle avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
