Baseball Game Preview: Foxcroft Academy Ponies vs. Mattanawcook Lynx

The Foxcroft Academy Ponies will head out on the road to face off against the Mattanawcook Lynx at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Foxcroft Academy barely beat George Stevens Academy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Ponies never let the Eagles get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Thursday. The win was familiar territory for the Ponies, who have now won five contests in a row.

The result came thanks to Calvin Landry's shutout, as he gave up just three hits.

At the plate, Foxcroft Academy got a massive performance out of Hayden Strout, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. Those three runs gave Strout a new career-high. Aiden Harvey was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Foxcroft Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Mattanawcook strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over Calais.

Foxcroft Academy pushed their record up to 10-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Mattanawcook, their record now sits at 13-0.

Foxcroft Academy couldn't quite finish off Mattanawcook in their previous meeting on May 12th and fell 4-2. Can the Ponies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
