Baseball Game Preview: Summit SkyHawks vs. Centennial Huskies

The Summit SkyHawks will take on the Centennial Huskies in a tournament on Wednesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Summit is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Monday. They skirted past La Quinta 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the SkyHawks have posted since April 9, 2024.

Meanwhile, Centennial was not the first on the board on Monday, but they got there more often. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-9 victory over Cajon. The win continues a trend for the Huskies in their matchups with the Cowboys: they've now won three in a row.

Ian Calvillo looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

At the plate, Ethan Miller and Jaden Walk-Green did most of the damage at the plate: Miller scored two runs while going 2-for-2, while Walk-Green went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Walk-Green has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mason Lear, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
