Baseball Game Preview: Port of Los Angeles Polar Bears vs. Nuview Bridge Knights

The Port of Los Angeles Polar Bears will take on the Nuview Bridge Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a seven-game winning streak alive.

Port of Los Angeles is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup two weeks ago. They won by a run and slipped past Chavez 6-5.

The team relied heavily on Joaquin Guerrero, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Jaydan Lamadrid, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Meanwhile, Nuview Bridge won against Mountain View on Friday with three runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. The Knights beat the Vikings by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 3-2.

Nuview Bridge's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Tobias Olague, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Port of Los Angeles pushed their record up to 15-8 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Nuview Bridge, their record is now 18-10.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Port of Los Angeles has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Nuview Bridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.8 strikeouts.
