Palatka hadn't done well against Matanzas recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Palatka Panthers never let the Matanzas Pirates get on the board and left with a 6-0 win. For the Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 5-4 victory the Pirates walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Not much got past Brayden Johns, who gave up just two hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Matanzas off the board.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Luke Oberman, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Mason Malloy was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Palatka picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 2-4. As for Matanzas, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Palatka will square off against P.K. Yonge at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Matanzas, they will challenge Menendez at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
