Basketball Game Preview: Rudder Rangers vs. Huntsville Hornets

The Rudder Rangers will head out to face off against the Huntsville Hornets at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Rudder has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since January 3.

Last Tuesday, Rudder ended up a good deal behind Montgomery and lost 58-40.

Despite their loss, Rudder saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Kayden Holmes, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 10 points and six boards, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaquise Martin, who went 5 of 8 en route to 12 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Huntsville, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They walked away with a 71-64 victory over A&M Consolidated on Tuesday.

Huntsville is also on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Rudder, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-16.

Rudder came up short against Huntsville in their previous meeting back in January, falling 77-67. Can Rudder avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
