Baseball Recap: Benton Gets the Win

While Benton's win against Northwest Area wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Tigers had just enough and edged out the Rangers 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since April 23, 2025.

The team relied heavily on Layne Latorra, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for Benton: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Cole Sorber, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base.

Benton's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Northwest Area, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-8.
