Branford kept up with Xavier until halftime on Thursday, but afterwards: not so much. The Falcons' defense stepped up to hand the Hornets a 3-0 shutout. Xavier's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last four matches.

Xavier's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Branford, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Xavier will take on Hamden at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Branford, they will look to defend their home pitch on Monday against Waterford at 6:00 p.m.
