Basketball Game Preview: Forks Spartans vs. Elma Eagles

The Forks Spartans will take on the Elma Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Forks is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Aberdeen on Wednesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Spartans took a blow against the Bobcats, falling 62-34. The loss put an end to the Spartans' undefeated start to the season.

Meanwhile, Elma ended up a good deal behind Black Hills on Monday and lost 73-58. The loss put an end to the Eagles' undefeated start to the season.

Forks will have to contain Isaac McGaffey as he made an impact in Elma's last game. He almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds. McGaffey's big performance that evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Gavin Muir was another key player, putting up seven points.

Having lost for the first time this season, Elma fell to 2-1. As for Forks, their loss was their first of the season and also makes their record 2-1.

Forks strolled past Elma when the teams last played back in December of 2024 by a score of 67-48. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
