Baseball Recap: Moniteau Takes a Loss

Moniteau came into this matchup off a tough six-run defeat last Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Punxsutawney Chucks by a score of 3-1 on Thursday. The Warriors have struggled against the Chucks recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Moniteau got a good showing from Carson Beck, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.

At the plate, Moniteau saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Connor Ealy, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Moniteau's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Punxsutawney, their victory bumped their record up to 13-4.

Moniteau didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 6-5 defeat against Clarion Area on the 9th. As for Punxsutawney, they will take on DuBois at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Chucks 3.2, the Beavers 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
