Basketball Recap: Primero Skates Past Antonito with Ease

Primero hadn't done well against Antonito recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Primero Bulldogs blew past the Antonito Trojans 58-12. That looming 58-12 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Bulldogs yet this season.

Isabela Maldonado was nothing short of spectacular: she went 9 for 13 on her way to 18 points. Aimee Mincic was another key player, going 5 for 10 on her way to 10 points and three steals.

Despite the loss, Antonito saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Shyanne Martinez posted four points.

The win made it two in a row for Primero and bumps their season record up to 4-2. As for Antonito, they dropped their record down to 1-1 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Primero will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Kim/Branson at 3:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025. Antonito and La Veta will compete for holiday cheer at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
