Basketball Game Preview: DeKalb County Tigers vs. Warren County Pioneers & Lady Pioneers

DeKalb County is 2-8 against Warren County since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The DeKalb County Tigers will head out to challenge the Warren County Pioneers & Lady Pioneers at 6:00 p.m.

DeKalb County is headed into Monday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Friday. They were dealt a 79-45 loss at the hands of Stone Memorial. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 274th, while the Panthers are ranked 41st).

Meanwhile, Warren County had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.6 points) and they went ahead and made it ten on Friday. They walked away with a 57-50 win over the Lions.

Warren County's win came from a few key players DeKalb County will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Canaan Parris, who posted ten points and five rebounds. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in steals (two). Another player making a difference was Devin Fish, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 15 points and five boards.

Warren County pushed their record up to 14-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.2 points per game. As for DeKalb County, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-12.

Things could have been worse for DeKalb County, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 60-44 loss to Warren County in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Can DeKalb County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
