Baseball Game Preview: Stevens Falcons vs. O'Connor Panthers

For the second straight game, Stevens will face off against O'Connor. The Falcons will take on the Panthers at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Stevens' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so O'Connor's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Stevens is headed into the contest having just suffered their biggest defeat since March 17th on Monday. They came up short against O'Connor, falling 12-1. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Falcons, who until this matchup were averaging four runs allowed.

For O'Connor's part, Myles DeLaVega spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits. DeLaVega has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Gabe Chavana was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. Brody Potter was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

O'Connor has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-14-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games. As for Stevens, their loss dropped their record down to 13-12-1.
