Softball Recap: Rockbridge County Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Fort Defiance, Rockbridge County was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They never let the Parry McCluer Yosemite Sam get on the board and left with a 22-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Yosemite Sam: they've now won six in a row.

Sadie Moore made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. Those five hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Brooke Hostetter was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with five runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracie Pelter, who went 4-for-5 with six RBI, one run, and one double.

Rockbridge County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 24 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Rockbridge County's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Parry McCluer, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-7.

Coming up, Rockbridge County will take on Alleghany at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Parry McCluer, they will face off against Eastern Montgomery at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Yosemite Sam's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season.
