Oak City Prep's's four-game losing streak came to an end on Wednesday. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 51-50 victory over United Faith Christian Academy. The victory was just what Oak City Prep needed coming off of a 83-43 defeat in their prior game.
Oak City Prep got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Leia Rios out in front who scored 13 points. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for her. Gabby Matthews was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
United Faith Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jada Richardson, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jonnae Bennett, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Oak City Prep's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for United Faith Christian Academy, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.
