Volleyball Recap: Stewarts Creek Red Hawks vs. Smyrna Bulldogs
Stewarts Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 3-1 to the Smyrna Bulldogs. The Red Hawks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 2-1.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-17, 22-25, 25-14.
Carly Harvey paced Stewarts Creek's offense, picking up six kills. Harvey got some help from Rayne White and her 12 assists. Finally, White was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high five blocks.
Smyrna found their leader in sophomore Mya Cornwell, who had 12 digs and three aces.
Stewarts Creek's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Smyrna, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-4.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Stewarts Creek will square off against rival Wilson Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Smyrna is set to face off against their familiar foe LaVergne at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
