Cave Spring and Salem are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Knights are taking a road trip to challenge the Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Salem took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Cave Spring, who comes in off a win.

Cave Spring got their first taste of in-conference action on Tuesday and they started things off strong. They walked away with a 7-2 win over Pulaski County. That looming 7-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Knights yet this season.

Landon Mathews spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on eight hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Evan Lee was excellent, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Ryan Tibey also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Meanwhile, Salem didn't have quite enough to beat Northside on Wednesday and fell 9-8.

The victory made it two in a row for Cave Spring and bumps their season record up to 6-7. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Salem, their loss dropped their record down to 9-5.

Cave Spring came up short against Salem when the teams last played back in April, falling 9-6. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
